Welcome!

"A few years ago at a Christian bookseller’s convention, with several thousand people present, one Christian group did a survey asking people to define the gospel. A hundred people responded. Those who sponsored the survey looked at the responses, and only one out a hundred qualified as an adequate description of the gospel. People think that the gospel is having a warm relationship with Jesus, or asking Christ into your heart. Those things are important, but that is not the gospel. The gospel has a clear content that focuses on the person of Christ, the work of Christ, and how the benefits of Christ are appropriated into the Christian’s life by faith.
- R.C. Sproul, from Feed My Sheep

Something has gone wrong.  Years ago when someone turned to the church for answers, we could assume that a Bible-believing Christian church would explain the gospel to them.  They would hear preaching that would point them to the real heart of their problem, and at the same time direct them to the good news concerning what God has done for sinners like us. Today such assumptions are no longer valid.  In fact, a person may find themselves sitting in church year after year and never hear the gospel explained, never be called to repent and believe, never told about the necessity of the new birth and never be invited to run from sin to Jesus Christ - who alone can save us.  Sadly, many churches have simply stopped preaching the gospel.  It's message is too pointed, too confronting, too serious.  The focus has become entertainment, making the worshipper comfortable - preferably laughing - immersing the service in lively music and spiritual pep talks.  Our message has become man-centered, rather than Christ-centered, and the gospel has been lost.

"Let this be to you the mark of true Gospel preaching – where Christ is everything, and the creature is nothing; where it is salvation all of grace, through the work of the Holy Spirit applying to the soul the precious blood of Jesus."
 - C.H. Spurgeon

What our community, nation and world needs most of all is the gospel.  Without it there is no hope.  We may make great advances in medicine, science, technology, politics and peace - but none of these ultimately give any real hope beyond the narrow borders of this life.  Jesus said "what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?"  That is the question.  And the answer is found only in the gospel of Christ.
